Was thinking about Egypt this morning, and my thoughts on the subj. made me a little sad. Let me share them:
I believe most Americans desire that Egypt (and other totalitarian regimes for that matter) see a peaceful transition to democracy. Yet this position seems completely different than what our government is saying publicly by continuing to back/acknowledge the government of Mubarak.
So in a sense, I’m saying to Egypt, yes, you should be democratic, experience liberty and the thrill of representation in government even though in your particular case I (dare I say “we” for all America) don’t have it myself (ourselves).
That is sad.
