First, a real quick note of thanks to those who served 63 years ago today:

SOFTWARE AS A SERVICE, BOON TO USERS, PROBLEM TO IRM?
I’m not the only person who dislikes the acronym for Software As A Service. But SaaS is a heck of a lot easier to type.
I’ve kind of “known” Rod Drury in an online kind of manner (blogging, a few emails, etc.) for a year or so. His new start up, Xero (http://www.xero.com) is a very cool accounting package delivered as SaaS. Seriously, how cool does this look:

Now in my mind there’s no doubt that eventually online services will equal (surpass?) the user experience of many desktop applications. So what are IRM professionals to do? We need validation, but something easier (for both sides) than a 450 page questionnaire.
Do you have earthquake sensors in your server room yes/no
I’m interested to hear from you folks - is your organization disinclined to use SaaS? My friend Rod wants to store your accounting numbers - are there particular data classifications that you (or your organization) just won’t have hosted/shared?
I’d really like to hear your comments, but please at least give the poll a click….
