Sorry for the lack of posting, hombres! Last week was crazy with seminars and travel and all flavors of lack of Internet connectivity. Short version of the following post? I made a Risk Management Bookmarking Group on Magnolia and want to invite you to join! Let’s get into “the social” and share bookmarks, shall we?
SWITCHING BOOKMARK SERVICES
One of the things that I did do last week was switch from Delicious to Magnolia for my online bookmarking service. I’m oh, so happy I did.
I’ve been using Delicious for ages, but it just simply hasn’t lent itself to helping me take advantage of all it’s flexibility. Well, if Delicious is Linux-esque in flexibility, then Magnolia is positively Mac-like in offering an elegant interface to 80% of the functionality I’d like. It’s easy to rank with a little ajaxy star system, share, create groups, and do all sorts of things that I’m sure I could have done in Delicious, but never had the time to invest into making it oh-so-extensible. Kind of like why I just use OS X instead of Ubuntu.

Ah seriously, if UNIX users can’t laugh at ourselves, who can we laugh at?
BACK TO SOCIAL BOOKMARKING AND WEB 2.0 AND SECURITY 2.0 AND PONIES!!!
Have we seen the last of the Security 2.0 nonsense? Let’s hope so. Anyhow - being a wannabe for this new hip web collected community, I decided to make an Information Risk Management group in Magnolia. I read something like 200 blogs a day. And, yes, I know what you’re thinking, that means I filter through 180 articles of crud to get 20 articles of worth. Why not just slim back? Because that amount of “surface area” helps me find new and interesting thought. Plus, it’s something to do while I drink my morning coffee.
Sorry, I digress. So I have all of these articles I read, and all sorts of stuff - and you guys out there are pretty bright - I figured this might actually be useful - we could share links, rate them, have discussions, etc… All those things Magnolia does fairly nicely and easily. There’s even a nice firefox extension just like Delicious.
So if you care to, please join the Magnolia Risk Management Group and subscribe to it via RSS! Send us all cool links and your thoughts!
